My alarm always goes off ten minutes prior to when I have to wake up--this way I can hit the snooze button without the guilty-stressed feelings in the pit of my stomach. Sometimes I just lay in bed and stare at the light filtering in through my blinds. Other times, I'm able to go back to sleep--and in those extra ten minutes, time is suspended--infinitely mine.
A friend was telling me of a dream he had had. What felt like days passing in his dream state, occurred in matter of minutes in the waking state--what we like to call reality. It occurred to me that if in just a few minutes, days could go by, then what could happen in an hour, or in a day for that matter.
In the movie the Matrix, Morpheus asks Neo: "Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?"
Can we even say what's real and what's not right now? What if life as we know it is nothing but a dream and we are just taking a short nap? If time slows down while we sleep, and minutes go by like days, then we could live our entire lives in a matter of hours.
Where am I going with this? Absolutely no where--but just perhaps, maybe I'm going everywhere. I'll have to come back to you after I sleep on this matter. Good night.
